One thing that Ms. Buddha and I love to do when we travel is to just go to an area and then just roam around to see what we run into – the reason we love that is you end up burning a bit of calories (we always end up walking more than we planned), and also because you never know what you end up bumping into. For one of the roams we did during Seoul, we went to Itaewon, which is frankly one of the more touristy/expat districts in Seoul.

The area itself is a little more “rough and dirty” in the fact that a lot of the goods sold are counterfeit goods where you haggle for hours to get a couple of dollars off. There’s a huge range of cuisine available given the clientele it draws.



That said, the area is not without its gems, there are a LOT of strange and unique stores in the area, and frankly, you need to come here to experience the atmosphere, but for a little look, enjoy:
