With my raving review of the Tian Tian Chicken Rice – it was an obvious choice for Ms. Buddha and I to visit them again when we went together – but sometimes, things don’t work out in life, and we only found out that they were in fact closed on the day we visited L

Trying not to let the situation ruin the day, we instead turned our appetite onto something we both have yet to try yet in Singapore – fried carrot cake! We looked around and went for the old age rule of “queue means decent food” – mysteriously, the store has no name.

We ordered and waited for our loot to arrive – in addition to the carrot cake, we also ordered a serving of fried oyster hoping it’ll be better than last time.
We went for the “black” carrot cake which is the one with a heavier dose of soy sauce and the cake was frankly delicious! The carrot cake itself had a good texture and the darker sauce gave it a very flavourful punch.

The fried oyster was much much better than the previous place we tried and the great thing is that store 01-53 redeemed my confidence in Singaporean Fried Oysters – the oysters tasted fresh and the egg was cooked so that it’s not dried up.
