Intercontinental Madrid – Club Room – Hotel Review

Our next stop after Valencia during our Europe trip was the main city of Spain – Madrid! For our hotel selection, we went with the Intercontinental Madrid since that I am an IHG Ambassador member which means a guaranteed upgrade – the hotel is located in the posher district in Madrid – which also means it’s slightly quieter.

The hotels has underground parking and we were a bit surprised how many serious people there were when we first arrived. Turned out – it was because there was a Prime Minister visiting Madrid for a conference and he was staying at the same hotel.

The Room – Club King Room

Because of the fact that the Hotel was hosting the prime minister and the many other conference attendees – it was apparently fully booked so we just got the club room we booked. The room itself is clean and simplistic, and definitely has a very European feel to it. The shower was quite large and the amenities were adequate – to be honest, you can never compare the quality of European hotels to somewhere like Intercontinental Osaka – but none-the-less, the room and bed were very comfortable.

Club Lounge

With Club Rooms, you also get access to the Club Lounge at the hotel – which is always a great place to just relax a bit and also get some free drinks that would otherwise have cost money via the minibar. The club lounge had consistent design as the room and was very comfortable – and also surprisingly quiet despite some VIPs visiting.

Food wise, during Happy Hour – they also served a bit of hot nibbles along with some decent sweets – quality wise, I was actually quite impressed, although they could’ve served a bit more spirits instead of just wine.

In terms of hotels – the Intercontinental Madrid was very comfortable – and suits the old city of Madrid very nicely – service was always very professional although I would’ve liked a bit more “warmth”.
